Wrong result, missing provider, removal request, or just an idea — all of it is welcome, and the awkward ones are the most useful.

Please include the report link if your message is about a specific domain. Results change as records change, so a scan from three days ago cannot be reconstructed from the domain name alone — but the /s/… share link is a permanent snapshot of exactly what we saw.

A result looks wrong

Tell us what you expected and what you saw. Every check has a stable id shown under its row — quoting it (mailauth.spf-lookups, say) makes it much quicker to find.

The reasoning behind each check is written down on the checks page, and it is meant to be arguable. If you think a check is measuring the wrong thing, that is a bug report, not a complaint.

The provider is wrong or missing

Provider attribution is fingerprint-based, so it is only as good as the fingerprint list. Send the domain and who actually runs it, and we will add the pattern.

Remove a domain’s history

Scan history for a domain is public. To have one removed, email us from any address — no justification needed, and we will not ask for one. Removal takes the domain out of history, the sitemap and the recently-checked list.

See Privacy for what is stored and for how long.

Abuse

If this service has sent traffic you did not want, email us with the timestamp and your address and we will block the target. Scans are rate limited per requester and per domain, and every outbound request carries a User-Agent naming the tool and linking back here.

This tool never sends MAIL FROM or RCPT TO, and does no port scanning — it reads DNS, one HTTPS request, and an SMTP banner.

Security

Reporting a vulnerability in Inspect My DNS itself is very welcome. Use the same address, put security in the subject, and give us a reasonable window before disclosing.

We use Google Analytics to see which pages get used. It sets cookies and sends data to Google. Nothing on this site needs it — declining costs you nothing. Privacy
